Before Infosys, Narayana Murthy worked as a research associate at IIM Ahmedabad, initially starting as a Chief System Programmer. Prior to the establishment of Infosys, he founded Softronics, but the venture was not successful.

After its closure, he took up a new job at Patni Computer Systems in Pune. It was during this period that he applied for a job at Wipro, which was rejected.

Narayana Murthy borrowed 10,000 rupees from his wife. This marked the beginning of the company from an apartment in Pune. In 1983, the company’s headquarters was transferred from Pune to Bangalore.
