Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy revealed that it was due to Azim Premji, the founder of Wipro, that Infosys came into existence.
He disclosed in an interview to a TV channel how he had applied for a job at Wipro, but Azim Premji’s company rejected his application, leading him to start Infosys, which now ranks among the top 3 IT companies in the country.

What did Narayana Murthy do before Infosys?
Before Infosys, Narayana Murthy worked as a research associate at IIM Ahmedabad, initially starting as a Chief System Programmer. Prior to the establishment of Infosys, he founded Softronics, but the venture was not successful.
After its closure, he took up a new job at Patni Computer Systems in Pune. It was during this period that he applied for a job at Wipro, which was rejected.

He also mentioned that Wipro founder Azim Premji later admitted not hiring him was one of his biggest mistakes.
Today, Infosys has a market capitalization of ₹6.65 trillion and operates globally, including in the United States and the United Kingdom. On the other hand, Wipro has a market capitalization of ₹2.43 trillion.

Narayana Murthy borrowed 10,000 rupees from his wife. This marked the beginning of the company from an apartment in Pune. In 1983, the company’s headquarters was transferred from Pune to Bangalore.
