Google maps will release new features in India 2024: Google Maps will soon have a fuel-efficient feature, where it will inform you about routes that would consume less fuel for your car. Google Maps will display fuel-efficient routes with green leaf icons.
For Indian users of Google Maps, there’s good news! Google has announced a major feature upgrade. Google Maps’ Street View feature will become more engaging. Live view walking will also be visible in Google Maps.
Additionally, Google Maps will now support Google Lens. Google states that updates for the local trains in Mumbai and Kolkata will be available within its ‘Where is my train?’ app. All these features will first roll out on the Android version of Google Maps, followed by a release for iOS later on.
In the initial phase, the live view walking feature will be released for 3,000 cities. This feature will enable users to get information about areas prone to heavy pedestrian traffic even before they start their journey. The support for Lens in Google Maps is expected to be available in January 2024.
Google Maps will become even more user-friendly with these updates, providing detailed information through new features. The ‘Address Descriptor’ feature will soon be launched in India on Google Maps. Users will be able to view images of buildings, shops, or roads along their route, making navigation to the correct location easier.
When will it be launched in India
The Vice President and Head of Google Maps, Miriam Daniel, mentioned that they are introducing a new innovation – the ‘Address Descriptor’ on Google Maps for the first time in India. This feature will help our users understand the addresses of places more accurately. This service will be launched across India early next year.
Daniel also announced the initiation of ‘Street View’ navigation, which will display real online images of buildings or roads along the path of pedestrians. Moreover, starting from January 2024, the ‘Lens in Maps’ feature will commence in 15 cities in India, enabling people to identify shops or landmarks on their walking routes.
AI Feature of Google Maps:
Google has merged AI into the map’s features. Like other services and products, Maps will now have AI-powered features that enhance user experiences. While Google Maps already offers eco-friendly routing and live view options, now with AI assistance, users can plan, navigate, and select stable options more efficiently.
The company had previously announced the immersive view for the Routes feature, allowing users to preview their travel. Earlier, Google Maps provided users with information about traffic jams, but now, with AI, the navigation map will display the real world with even more accuracy. Users will now be able to quickly find places like coffee shops.
